Summer is almost here meaning it’s time to tweak your skincare routine accordingly. Here are the 10 best skincare products for summer!
#1 Foot Mask
If you haven’t already it’s time to get your feet sandal and summer-ready, Heading in for a pedicure is an excellent place to begin, but you can kickstart the process with a Foot Peel Mask. Be ready though, as this process isn’t pretty! You wear the foot mask for about an hour, and beginning the next day or two, the top layer of skin will begin to peel off. It doesn’t hurt at all, but don’t pull at the skin. Just let it shed naturally.
It will take 6 to 11 days for the peel to complete. The end result is baby soft and beautiful feet. Maintain your feet at home with the Love Pumice and wear moisturizing socks at night as needed.
#2 Nail Polish
Now that your feet look their best it’s time to invest in some new nail polish. Sally Hansen Pure is the new vegan and formaldehyde-free formula from this classic brand. The Pure line comes in over 25 colors, including a vegan topcoat and hardener. Don’t forget toe separators to make polishing easier. In a pinch, you can always use cotton balls.
#3 Body Wash
The more you sweat the more prone you are to breakouts, especially on your back. This makes now the ideal time to switch to Neutrogena Body Clear Body Wash. Just put it on your washcloth and gently cleanse. It contains salicylic acid to minimize breakouts. It’s also a great year-round post-workout body wash.
#4 Body Lotion
Keep using your preferred body moisturizer to lock in moisture after you shower. A good choice is the Extra Creamy Coconut Oil Lotion and Jergens Ultra Healing as a daily go-to. These lotions will moisturize but you will also need to layer your SPF on top. For an easy on-the-go and outdoor spray-on option Banana Boat has you covered.
#5 Summer Face Serum
You can use TruSkin Vitamin C Face Serum year round but it is perfect in the summer as this antioxidant-rich formula has Vitamin C and Vitamin E to heal and repair your skin. It also has hyaluronic acid to help you maintain a summer glow. To tone and hydrate it contains skin-healthy aloe, witch hazel, and jojoba oil. Apply after cleansing your face and wait at least 3 minutes before layering your moisturizer on top. Also check out this blog post I did that goes more in depth about vitamin C serums.
#6 Lightweight Daytime Moisturizer
The thicker daytime facial moisturizer that you use during the winter may feel too heavy when it’s hot and humid out, making now the perfect time to switch to a lightweight formula. My personal favorite is Neutrogena Oil-Free Facial Moisturizer. It is light, oil free and fragrance free. It is also great for sensitive skin. If excess shine due to oily skin is a problem for you in the summer you can try a mattifying moisturizer like La Roche-Posay Effaclar Mat Face Moisturizer. You can still use the same PM serum and moisturizer in the summer months.
#7 Facial Sunscreen
We must wear face sunscreen all year-round, but you may want to kick your SPF protection up a notch during the summer months. This mineral-based SPF is a dermatologist favorite and has an impressive SPF 46. Being broad-spectrum, it will protect your face and neck from UVA and UVB rays.
#8 Tinted Moisturizer
You can use the same foundation year-round, but be mindful as you may need to go a shade or two darker in the summer months. For active days or if you prefer lighter coverage in the summer, switch to a BB cream. These are tinted moisturizers that help to even out your skin tone without heavy coverage. When using these you will still need SPF protection underneath. Some good all in one options are Physicians Formula Super BB All-in-1 and bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel.
#9 Lash Care
Even if you don’t wear a lot of makeup, mascara can open and highlight your eyes and give you that little something extra. So, don’t forget to switch to a waterproof formula during the summer. Covergirl Lash Blast and Maybelline Lash Sensational remain top picks. For a more dramatic look, Lash Princess False Lash Effect will separate your lashes and add volume.
#10 Oil Blotting Tissues
I don’t know about you, but my skin shines a lot more when it’s hot out. I carry blotting sheets with me, which help tremendously with getting rid of oil on my face. I have been using them for years and don’t leave home without them especially in the summer. If you haven’t given these a try then you are definitely missing out.
Give some of these skincare products a try and find what works for you this summer.
